Then you better hold off for at least 5 years. The TV industry is in a major tech explosion and they already have 4-5 new technologies planned out and I'm sure they are working on more. TVs were in a stand still for a long time, but with the HD explosion we've seen DLP, LCD, Plasma, LED, OLED, and more.

I personally plan on buying one of the LED TVs next year, as I think they look really nice and I'd rather enjoy a new TV now than wait until "the best thing" finally hits the market.

The picture quality on LED TV's is amazing. You can really tell the difference when they are side by side to say an LCD or Plasma. Of course they are much more expensive.

I've seen a few of them go on sale for $1700 for a 55" TV. If it wasn't for the fact that I don't really have the money now, I'd totally buy one. I figure if I wait till next year that will be the normal price and I could possibly catch a sale for even less.

Actually that's not too bad, when you take into account how much better they look. But I've seen some 50" (1080p) plasmas for around $900. The good thing is that they become more affordable every year. I hope to get a LED TV soon to replace my LCD, I'm just waiting for a good deal.
