i look at the PSP revisions or SKU's like i do the iPod changes throughout the years. I consider PSP-1000 as the first generation PSP, PSP-2000 the second generation PSP, PSP-3000 the third generation PSP and the PSP Go as a beta for the soon to be released PSP-4000 which will be the fourth generation PSP.
the PSP Go wasn't a dumb move per se. like i said its a beta model for sony to see if the market is ready and they priced it high just for the hardcore crowd to purchase it so sony can then get feedback through sales figures and such. i believe that the PSP Go is a smart move, cheap to make and sony is getting profit from the digital distribution service on PSN for PSP games anyway.
