1. Its still a major rumor.
2. 2012 as I've been saying would be the release of nextGen stuff.
3. Sony hasn't learned their lesson if true.

First rumors of PSP2 show an over-powered expensive system. First rumors of PS4 show an over-powered expensive system.

Why can't $ony find that happy middle ground where you get a good upgrade of capability while keeping the price to build and thus the price to buy at a moderate level. This super high end crap is why Sony is losing in every market across the board.

well a happy middle ground its what the others do. Sony always where about high end crap and thats why they have such a large fan base (me included) and i hope they go that path again, but this time they should be building a console at least 2x better than others in every way, that would be a proper excuse to pay more for it... and like my (since E3 2009) sig says, no motion controllers as standard, just optional for some type of games... that would be a win situation for me!

Well, PS3 didn't have double the power in every area in comparision to the 360, and it is still just fine.  I would much rather see a PS4 with a more advanced Cell, modernized graphics and added RAM.  Enough power for 1080p with an BASELINE graphics quality of Uncharted 2*.  Leave the rest of the tech the same - and BC is a must.  Throw in some motion control and a price tag of $349 to $399.  I would buy that first day.

As for your comment that $ony is about "high end crap", the crap part is becoming increasingly true.  My next HDTV will be a Toshiba or a Sharp Aquos.  I am still scared that my PS3 60Gig is going to YLOD.  Hopefully $ony gets their $hit together and the PS4 has BC with improved optics.  That way, I can keep my PS3 library if my 60 dies.
