You forgot to mention 8 times the RAM.
As this thread demonstrates, the power of the hardware isn't really the issue. It's the software development. A fair chunk of the iPhone's might is eaten up by the OS, and for now, software isn't being designed for the beefy 3GS but the weaker 2G and 3G models. Furthermore, developers simply aren't as experienced with the hardware, nor as inclined to optimize their code as PSP developers. iPhone games also suffer from the same "push it out now, patch it later" syndrome that PC games exhibit.
On the other hand, games tend to cost 75-95% less than PSP counterparts, so the lack of polish isn't too bothersome.
