Playstation 1 supported mouse, Playstation 2 did the same (keybord too? i'm not sure.) Playstation 3 supports both keybord and mouse.
I think developers should give the option to use the control scheme and then online in games you could set if you wanted to play on servers that allowed it or servers that didn't.
