no the PS3's ram design is split 256MB for the GPU and 256MB for the CPU but what many people overlook is that on board the Cell processor itself. is that Each SPE core has 256 KB of local storage. its not Cache is very fast Ram embedded inside the CPU itself it works out to be about 1.3MB of ram on the processor Die. by itself that may not seem to be much in many people's eye's, and truth be told it's not. It has some great uses and provides a very good advantage in streaming data, like graphic's acceleration!, but its mainly the start of that very core design that has many of the same design's being used in future processor's of other companies with these design road maps for processor evolution for Broadband connectivity.
the Cell was not the first , and it will not be the last but the Cell did indeed help pave the way in its design for future HYBRID Processor's
