Why Sony should skip the next console iteration

it is not about skipping next generation, it is about temporally disrupt the console generation by avoiding to release their next console too early.

In clear : delay the PS4 by 2-3 years to DISRUPT the classical "console generation" and by releasing a REALLY improved PS4 with superior hardware/technology/innovation that will avoid direct competition AND allow a not so high release price ...

Except that they will be facing two entrenched competitors which in a retail space  where competitors may have been already been able to get their machine as cheap as Sony new one.  If they wait to long they miss the development cycles that will start that generation of games and we see the same thing we saw with the PS3 early on only far worse.  

It's about cutting your losses and trying to evolve your company towards something new.  Even if best you can hope for is Apple lite with better games(and they'd better get out there before that last statement isn't true anymore)

and what happen if you remake history, u release this console later, with a higher price BUT far batter technology. I m not talking about a 1 year delay like in PS3-360 that IMO was bad for the PS3, I m talking about a 2-3 years delay allowing a big gap in technology ...
