Sony Computer Entertainment and Microsoft Entertainment and Devices Division are rivals because of the console gaming business, and it's natural for them to act like they're in a war, and also having fans & fanboys talking about it all the time benefits both of them...
Aside from that Sony and Microsoft are very close business partners, especially in the PC department...
