You want to hold/press X at the right times or else he'll decide that he'd rather introduce his face to the ground.
I'm liking the game so far (I just got the memory data 10 trophy before I took it back to the rental store) and it's certainly a step up from the first game. I'm glad that the missions are more varied while the more mundane tasks are side missions and mainly for money and trophies. I'm certainly having more fun with this one compared to the first one and how boring it would get.
