I agree with the OP. I'm never going to by Metallica because I have no interest in Metalica, but I will by a dedicated Beetles version. It's all about choice. The issue is that many gamers feel that each version is being sold directly to them. Even in spite that some gamers would never buy Beetles or songs from the 80's. It's a poor mentality.
Then on the other hand you have had games like Mario Party. Which should probably be released more like the Mario/Zelda platforms. No more than 1 or 2 per generation. Then there's the hypercritical group that are happy to have 4 games per gen. Like Final Fantasy, that span NES, SNES, PS, PS2 4 generations with 12 games spanning them. But not a bat of the eye in regards to being milked. That's not to say that FF fans are hypocritical just the gamers who are happy swallowing numerous iterations then complain about some other game having to many.
Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.
