Yeah, the first crates are the easiest to defend with the tanks and mountains for cover. But the attackers do have the UAVs, and three tanks. They can also attack with snipers from the mountains.
If you have a cooperating team on defenders though, with engineers and tracers, the attackers are stuck on the first crate.
