Actually one of the expansion packs for heroes of might and magic 5 had as much content as the original game. It added a alternate upgrade for each team plus one or two new teams and a campaign that was as long as the original and conciderately better. It even lead up to the dark messiah fps which is one of the best fp games out there... in my opinion. You could install it as a standalone without the original game though.. but it was still an expansion.
I don't think left 4 dead 1 had enough content to warrent a purchase from me and i'm in doubts regarding the sequal. I thought the first got old pretty fast based on the free weekend and times i've played it various places.
It lacked content.. This is just my opinion though... but l4d1 and l4d2 together form a full game worthy of a purchase :p (if the campaigns of l4d2 are the same length as the ones in the original.)
