Heres the thing,With XBL you pay $50 every year, with the SLIM you pay the extra $100 up front for online.

Maybe from the gamer perspective, but not from Sony's as the PS3 is surely more expensive to build than the 360.

Surely Blu Ray doesnt cost that much more to build.

Not that much more, but still more. There's also the wireless and the more expensive CPU.

Sony make alot of money, such as the money Sony will make from Software sales, Downloads (Including the money they make on home), the money they make on Qore, the money they make on PSP and PS2 sales which sell for profit, the money they make on PSP and PS2 software & Downloads, they money they make on merch (not much but still something), the money that comes down from Sony HQ, TV sales, Video Cameras, Sony Erricson, Walkman. If they can afford to be sponsor for the Football League, then they can afford to keep their gaming devision afloat.

Sony also have alot of assets which they may make money through, they have Sony Pictures, Sony BMG, SCEE, SCEA, SCEJ which include companies that will be making alot of money e.g. Naughty Dog, Ready at Dawn and Media Molecule, all of these companies will be funded or given assistance to by Sony when they make games, but when they sell games, Sony take some of the profit.

I dont think Sony would be giving away so much stuff for free if they were in financial turmoil, just today they announced that they would be giving away free comics up until December the 12th on PSP.

I agree with some of the stuff you said, but that has little to do with what we were discussing.

You were discussing the profitability of the PS3 console, I explained how this does not matter :)
