Maybe from the gamer perspective, but not from Sony's as the PS3 is surely more expensive to build than the 360.

Yah, BR, Wifi, CPU I imagine easily account for difference.  The consoles don't factor in, anyway.  MS has established Live as having a fee for online, and Sony hasn't, that's all.  However Sony does charge for content being on PSN plus is gets money via Home transactions, premium themes and stuff like Quore.

In a sense, if you took everything both Live and PSN has to offer, you're paying money for the privilage, just via slightly different models.
