Is having a good soundtrack as important for a game as it used to be?

Think about Chrono Trigger, FF7, FF6 etc, without wonderful soundtracks.

That'd be kinda like having a wife without breasts. She could still do the dishes, perhaps even better without the tata's getting in the way but it just wouldn't be the same.
