The PSP relies far too much on Sony to stock the library, so when they decide to ignore it again, the third party support will dry up again also. Frankly it's a miracle they convinced developers to come back on board as it is. It's a valiant effort on their part, but I just don't see Sony being able to continue this level of support forever.

Personally, I just came to notice that far too much of the library is full of stripped down console games. You've got the multitude of PS2 ports that function oddly without the second analog and the multitude of PS3 franchises that are stripped of features. In between that, you've got the gems like Patapon and Crush. There just are far too many of these console duds, and not enough truly original software to separate the PSP from it's bigger cousins.

I have to commend Sony on getting some third parties on board...but it doesn't seem like their games are selling well. Soul Calibur and GTA didn't do well from the more notable ones off the top of my head. Assassin's Creed doesn't seem like it'll sell that well either - it only had 14k preorders according to VGC. On the first party side, GT PSP, Motorstorm didn't do well. LBP PSP launched with no hype so I don't see that doing well either. Only JP third parties seem to have success on it and in Japan only. But then they have to make a compromise because in the West the titles end up not doing well. This is a problem for any series that sell more in the West (like KH:BBS...which should be ported to the Wii).

Well the problem on here is that with the download store, people will defend poor PSP sales until the end of time. Anything that isn't sold at retail could potentially be made up for in mystery DD sales, no matter how unlikely. I think a healthy combo of Sony showing third parties their PSP Go plans and Capcom's success with Monster Hunter made it possible to get some third parties on board again. Also, I'm fairly sure there's a large incentive from Sony for any developer that makes a game Sony promises to bundle with the PSP, which is in the hundreds now I think.
