What ssj12 said is pretty much the biggest advantage Windows 7 has over Windows Vista. Windows 7 vastly improves memory management and multi-threading. In some cases it has been shown that Windows 7 performs 5% faster with a dual-core, 10% faster with a quad and up to 20% faster with an 8 core processor. (http://www.infoworld.com/d/windows/windows-7-multicore-how-much-faster-325).
In that test it does show Vista get slightly higher scores but again Windows 7 still has time to mature its drivers and to be on par with Vista right at release (after 2 service packs) is quite a feat. In addition they also show how Windows 7 is more energy efficient. I doubt that's much of a concern to those of us with rigs but it's still an advantage. More to come as I find it. I had a ton of articles saved on my old comp but have to search for them all again now. I can spout facts that I remember but I'd also like to provide the proof behind it. :)
