Well according to an article I saw on here they said it only took about a month to do everything.  And if that is the case then I can imagine that yes it would easily be worth it.  Plus it does allow some PS3 owners, who never had a PS2, to experience the originals before the the final one comes out.

Hmm, I don't really believe that but if that is the case then I suppose that would be worth it.
