I wouldn't really call this a sequel. It started it's own franchise.

Modern Warfare is not a franchise. Call of Duty is, but Modern Warfare is not.

But................ Modern Warffare is it's own thing. Therefore, it isn't really a sequel, which is my point. Modern Warfare 2 is the sequel.

Yeah, but the perfect counterargument to that is the first Modern Warfare was called Call of Duty 4.
