FEAR 2, Resident Evil 5, Resistance 2...

FEAR 2 is surprising as the game didn't have a lot of hype. But FEAR 1 was amazing game so I guess people were secretly hyping part 2 and expecting more.

I'd be willing to bet if R2 hadn't seemed to chicken out of its own approach and overly copy Halo / CoD it would be well over 2M units sold by now and probably closing in on 3M.  The SP seemed to break the story began in RFOM, and everyone I know who liked the retro vibe in RFOM was dissapointed with R2 approach - while the shift to 2 guns, etc. just made it seem like another cookie cutter FPS vs a second RFOM game.

Cool ending though - and if Insomniac can settle on a firm tone and theme and actually explain some stuff then R3 could do very well, but they definately lost fans with some of their choices with the sequel.

Fear 2 just didn't seem to have the same vibe as Fear, and I guess many were expecting a leap in the AI, etc. but in truth, it felt like a step back.  Really Fear 2 felt like a console version rather than the PC original - of course it also came out when PC / Console FPS dominance is shifting rapidly, so I think it was kind of stuck from the start, coming across as watering the original down for consoles while being seen more as a PC title and not having had great impact on consoles.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
