1. Rebels fighting a tyranical government. That's really original and hasn't been done to death in all forms of media.

1. They are l'cie not rebels, their mission is to kill the people in the country they have been brought up in, if they fail they will all be turned into crystal monsters or something. Thats why they go against the fal'cie.....its more like l'cie (our main cast) against the Fal'cie crystal gods of two nations (Pulse & Cocoon)

2. They have PLAYED the game....YOU haven't

One more thing about point 1.....you won't find a single RPG, western or japanese that isn't loosely based on that kind of a storyboard
