Hmm...not really. In fact, it could hurt the score if its story sucked. L4D isn't a cinematic experience like Halo or Killzone (comparing shooters). It's like Ninja Gaiden, in other words, it's more about the gameplay than it is the campaign pacing (balance between cutscenes and in-game sequences), and it didn't stop NG from getting a 94 on metacritic (Not that I'm saying L4D is lacking, it's an amazing game).
