Haha I'd draw some hate from die-hard FF fans though, I dislike some of the more popular ones. I like (in order) FF6,4,7,10,2,5/12. I only kind of liked 5 and 12, and mostly just for the battle/leveling systems. I don't count FF11 (which I think of as the worst P2P MMO i've encountered). FF1 is boring (I didn't play it back in the day, so I don't have that nostalgic feeling that everyone tells me about). FF3 I just never finished. And FF9 we already talked about.
Now FF8, haha, the draw system was alright at first, but quickly became tedious. The whole thing felt like a chore halfway through the game. But that's fine, I could do with that. I liked the summons, and even the story was alright, but the characters, dear lord. I've never played a game with more annoying characters. I can't even remember specifics anymore, but there wasn't a single playable character I liked. The whole thing was too 'angsty' for me, so I've never liked it.
And I really can't think of any epic last boss fights. While Kefka was cool, I don't remember anything epic about the fight, just me spamming ultima with my party until it was over. I think that's part of the problem with RPG last bosses, there's typically some formula you can follow, and the boss dies easily. I think that's why I prefer action RPGs this day, there's a little more emphasis on some kind of skill, and less on preparation (leveling).
