Contrary to what dobby985 says, I'm glad they finally changed the photo gallery. They should also do it do to music and videos too.
A family member went to Italy on a school trip and ended up bringing two gigs worth of pictures home on the camera. Better use of screen real estate would have been much better to scroll through those pictures rather than the vertical line.
