I can see why the inclusion of homosexuality in video game entertainment can be viewed as another important step in societal acceptance of homosexuality. But there needs to be a sense of proportionality to it. Just like not every game needs to have sex or romance, not every game with sex or romance needs to have gay sex or romance. The gay elements I've seen in games are often of a fairly juvenile nature. Entertaining perhaps but not really adding much to the gay cause. Not all homosexual representations are helpful to the cause.
Personally I'm neither for nor against the inclusion of homosexuality in gaming. If it fits with the tenor of the story then it is what it is. If it's there without a decent context then it makes it appear rather contrived and would detract from the game.
