i cant see any problem with Left 4 Dead having a meaningful and long story to it whilst playing offline, and just keep the story away when playing the excellent multiplayer online. Left 4 Dead could potentially have a huge story, what caused the humans to become infected, the origins of the substance that caused it ect ect. |
But L4D just doesn't need a story, it's actually scarier to not know what happened.
Anyways, the game isn't about what happened, it's about surviving and if L4D2 is anything like L4D, then that story is told from the banter between characters and the way Valve masterfully tells stories with its environments.
Long cut scenes or long pauses would only break up the pacing of the game and make it worse.
