Instead of cross game voice chat how about just allowing the install of Skype? Ok so the number of people you can have on a conference call is limited to 9 or so, but that will be more than enough for most people who want cross game chat, won't it?
I gave up using Xfire for ingame chat while playing PC games online with a couple of friends because the voice chat function wouldn't work first time every time, last time we tried after tyhe most recent update voice chat didn't work at all. We went with Skype conference call and it worked totally fine, better in fact than Xfire.
