This is just one of those things that people like to hold against games that they don't like. Honestly, you can pick on any game about something, and the glaring thing to pick on graphically with Halo is the bright color palatte and (surprise!) sci-fi style visuals. It's not "realistic" as though a game featuring a character that can get shot 70 times in succession and jump 10 feet in the air should somehow feature "realism". Same thing with MGS4, people rip on it for having too many movies, even though that is what the MGS series is all about, fantastic story and amazing cutscenes.
