However, the odds aren't that against LO if, repeat "if", enough people like it for word of mouth to spread. That's how games like God of War 1 and Gran Turismo 1 became hits, without the help of an installed fanbase, or a massive marketing blitz (okay, God of War did have some marketing).
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
