I don't have the time and money to waste on products that might be crap. I want to have a chance to first try the game before making the purchase. Same way I have downloaded torrents of other titles, some caught my attention and those I've bought (Mass Effect and Gears of War of are the most recent). While others did not interested me (Anno 1404, Modern Warfare 2). You may think that's imoral or whatever crap, but it seems quiete reasonable to me. |
I pretty much do the same thing (though If I decide to get it, I'm going to buy the 360 version of MW2. Since I know more people with the 360 version). Not to mention that when there is no demo available, how the hell are you supposed to expect people to fork over $50+ for a game that might not even work on your PC? I'm a laptop user. I don't use a desktop anymore. And just because my laptop meets minimum requirements doesn't mean the game is going to run well. I've played a number of games (on my old desktop) where I met the minimum reqs but it ran so so badly to the point of being unplayable. And in cases where I met the recommended specs, sometimes the games can be very crash-prone because it might not be very compatible with my graphics card for eg. (that's one of the downsides of programming for an open platform. Results may very depending on the type of hardware you have. Meeting recommended specs doesn't mean it'll run without hitches) So it's good to have a demo or a cracked copy to test it out. These are the reasons (troubleshooting, stupid spec requirement guidelines, etc.) why I am frustrated with PC gaming and mostly console game now.
