Islam expands through terror. Children are taught that their parents should kill them if they stop being Muslim. Their book tells them to kill non-believers. With ease of travel to western countries some fanatics will always be carrying out the wishes of their religion.

Much like the Old and New Testament, the Qur'an and many of the Hadiths have passages that can be interpreted to suggest a war against non-believers; or more generally as a suggestion to kill non-believers. This may not be the mainstream or "Correct" interpretation, but it is the interpretation that is heavily used by radical/fundamentalist Islamic clerics to encourage Jihad.

The danger in most of the western world is that Fundamentalist/Radical Islam is spreading rapidly within the country, and political correctness prevents people from questioning these movements like they question similarly radical movement.
