this game is just as hard as you make it yourself - you are normal human in this game (for the first ~100 lvls or so) and not superman, which means, that everything you think could be deadly IS deadly
1.) be patient
2.) use a shield (at least at start), keep it up and study your enemies attack patterns (be wary though, for the blue eyed knights have a guard breaker move with their shield), which of course needs patience
3.) try not to pull more than 2 enemies at once (it's even better to 1on1 every enemy) - if you pull too many run for your life and don't get impatient
4.) every corner is a trap (not really, but it's safer to think so), so advance slowly and carefully
and to answer your question, no I never thought of this game as frustrating - every single one of my deaths was my own fault and happened because I was overconfident and impatient
