It's more than likely that one of the xclamp clips has detached from the heatsink underneath the motherboard so there isn't even pressure across the CPU or GPU to remove the heat from the system. I personally would book a repair saying it has intermittent RROD and if what I say has happened then they would not doubt that it had that issue.
