So you are saying the concept of subscriptions, DLC, and microtransactions is sound in practice, you just don't want it to come to things you like? |
I don't want it to come to things that are already free. I've no problem with an MMO supporting itself with subs or something like Battleforge charging for microtransactions- I have a choice about whether or not I want to play along. I also don't have a problem with DLC- they're just expansion packs, and as long as they offer decent content (i.e. not a set of horse armour or a few maps), I'm willing to pay for it. But having to pay just to play anything online is not on. I'm also very wary of companies like Activision seeking to 'monetise their IP'; you can be damn sure when they start using words like that that it's going to cost you. As I said previously, I'd be very surprised if IW.NET didn't end up charging you a sub to play the next COD online.
