Don't expect dvd playback ever in the Wii. It would only make the system more expensive and they don't need/want it. They are not trying to be that machine.
I expect next Holiday we will see the
Wii/WiiSports at $200
+zapper wiipoints card $250
+zapper/wiiponts card/Wiifit $300-329
Everything old is new again.
That would be a price drop but I bet the average system sale price would go up. Different skus but they will not be doing diferent hardware in the consoles.
The board is a significant piece of hardware so it will be $60 if not $70.
Of course they are on easy street while the system is selling out.
Final* Word on Game Delays:
The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.
Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.
Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.
