The problem with Golbez isn't so much Golbez as Zeromus.

Goblez is a really effective and cool villian... but it feels like Zeromus really takes away a lot as a cliche (oh this evil guy made me do it) moment.

On the one hand it gives him a chance for redepmption... but on the otherhand it almost feels like you should excuse his being evil from the beggining unlike the other characters whose fault and redemption feel more "real" and of their own making.

I think it would of been a lot more effective if Zemus was ressurected without the whole "mind control" thing.

I prefer to see Zemus - not as a character, but as an embodiment of hatred itself. He didn't really control Golbez any more than Golbez controlled Kain - it only brought out things that he very badly wanted anyway. Golbez's fall and his redemption was still very much his own.
