1, 2 and 4 are horrible reasons.
1) PS2 Userbase also went to 360 and Wii in large numbers. 2) Most people don't own both consoles. So this isn't really an issue. 4) Not RPGs... and also two exceptions to a general rule of 360 domination in software sales.
While 3 is only a good reason for SUPER hardcore fans who somehow haven't bought a 360 or PS3 yet.... which can't be that many. A better reason woud be to cite weak JRPG sales for 360... not that they've been much better on PS3. Although... even that is incomplete. Since Final Fantasy's sales are mostly non RPG fans. I know that sounds weird but its true.
People see "FINAL FANTASY XIII" and think "The RPG i'm going to buy this generation."
As such... we basically have no good indicators about how it's going to sell on either system, and which system is going to sell more. The number of sales Final Fantasy gets in the is multiple times the next highest RPG. (Not counting pokemon... since someone will throw that in i'm sure.) |
Kasz, to avoid pokemon argument you just need to specify that FF is the best selling rpg in home consoles.
Anyway, I do agree with your argumentation, FF is a mainstream game and have it own fanbase disregarding liking other rpg or not. For example, i love JRPG in general, but my brother hate them all, but, when we talk about FF he goes crazy, he would buy any system for a main FF. This game is considered so important of it big fanbase worldwide that would buy any console for it, in Japan it's near 2 million people.
