There have been rumours going around for a while now that the evil empire that is Microsoft have been eyeing up the purchase of Electronic Arts.

After reading through some threads tonight, some claiming that the 360's MW2 bundle sales is the beginning of the end for Sony, and others claiming that the Japanese release of FFXIII is going to keep the PS3 on the pursuit of the American console, I questioned what would happen if Microsoft instead invested in purchasing the masters of the RPG genre.

In a world where Microsoft had exclusive rights to such a big player in the industry, I believe that Sony would struggle to survive.

There will be no more Final Fantasy, no more Dragon Quest, not even a Hitman or a sequel to Arkahm Asylum on the Sony systems. Sure they will have Killzone, Uncharted 2 and a few other exclusive franchises which require the protagonist to shoot people while running through cinematic levels, and Gran Turismo will always be the best driving game series ever but , but I am curious to hear your thoughts on whether or not you can see these offering enough reasons to keep Sonys systems in the console war.
