i'm gonna ignore forums and all that when the game comes out or even nearing. Nothing turns me off things faster than hundreds of peple clamoring over something that isn't even that special. Its like going into one piece chatper discussion or spoilers, constantly hearing everyone each week saying OMG epic chapter, ODA is god, ect. really annoying and makes me barely look at them now. I still read though cause its good, and will not shy away form ff13 if its good either.

hype just helps the game sell better but it dosent make that game better than other games that didnt generate hype. MW2 is a perfect example. the game had a tremendous amount of hype but guess wat its nothing special at all and is totally overrated. So yes i can agree with u that hype does hurt a games reputation.

yea thats what i mean, it can help sales. not sure how much, because normal people and large majority of buyers of huge sellers don't see the hype at all. they just see the advertising on tv or the neat box in the store. hype can help a game like zack and wiki or valkyrye chronicles to sell. you know sort of niche not huge sellers, because most of buyers are online looking gamers. But mario games, gta, halo, mw, ff games don't need hype at all. it will still get millions and millions of peopel to buy it that never once saw an article online or someones hype thread.
all these threads are doing to the huge blockbuster games are annoying people by the sheer number of them. Well annoying all but those few that are constnatly making a new thread if they don't see one on the front page.
