Like all the Uncharted reviews I've read that score gameplay down (relative to the other scoring elements) I find some incongruity between your commentary and the score. I don't think lack of originality in and of itself justifies a relatively low score. For an 8.5 on gameplay I would expect to see identification of actual gameplay flaws.
One gameplay flaw I've read/heard in other reviews regarding U:DF and UC2 is that the platforming elements have been rather dumbed down to the point of lacking any real challenge or strategy to them. So if the games are going to sit in the Action/Platformer sub-genre then this is a reason to score the gameplay down because it falls down (excuse the pun) on one of its defining characteristics. I've not played a lot of tomb raider in the past, but from what I have played I think the tomb raider platforming elements are more challenging and hence provide a more satisfying experience than the UC:DF (haven't played UC2 yet) platforming elements.
I think your gameplay score might be right, but I think there needs to be more critique of the gameplay to make what you write fit with the score you gave. I would give UC:DF between 7.5 & 8 for gameplay myself, it sounds like there has been improvement in overall gameplay for UC2, but not so much as to put it up there as one of the all time greats gameplay games. Most of the greatest accolades for UC2 has gone to its presentation, richly deserved too it would seem. And with online coop and multiplayer the game's value has skyrocketed. So it is right for the gameplay score to be the lowest score as it represents the least improvement over the first game.
Generally though it seems the game deserves to be a 9.5+ game, so you are in good company with your overall score. And I don't really believe in 10's myself.
I will give you kudos for a succinct review.
I won't rate your review but I think it was a very good first up effort and you should be commended for putting your views out there for public scrutiny.
