Pros:

- Without a doubt the best first person platformer out there, with excellent and precise controls that lead a lot of room for player improvement. If you make a mistake, it was your fault 99% of the time (although a lot of people fail to realize this).
- Level design is superb, the city is gorgeous and has a great style to it.
- Nice focus on hand to hand combat, since Faith is just a frail, yet agile, woman.
- Time trials. :)
- The music!!!!

Cons:

- Too linear and scripted (lack of freedom).
- Bullet time doesn't last long enough.
- High difficult curve, the game is more fun once you master it, and less fun when you're simply average.

While there are those who would claim the game is too short, I disagree. The value in the game, for me, came from replaying it, trying new things, and mastering the controls. I got to the point where I could take out enemies one by one with deadly efficiency, make insane jump combinations, etc. Time trials, in particular, were a thrill (I am in the top ten for many of the levels).

In regards to the story, I love that as well. It is more political than most stories, and it's more about an underground resistance forming than saving the world. However, I will admit that the execution of the story was sub-par.

With all that said, I can understand why some people didn't like the game. DICE needed to encourage the player to try new things more often, to master the controls. Rather than hidden runner bags, they should've had runner bags that are only acquirable by performing a section of tough moves.

I didn't have a problem with the gunplay since it didn't make sense for Faith to pwn with guns, but I can still understand the complaints with it.

Mirror's Edge was one of my favorite games of the generation thus far. :)
