Question is, do you play for the gore ? Or do you play for the awesome gameplay ?
Gameplay also depends on how you play it. Those who say God of war is a button masher are maniacs who kept pressing square, square, triangle on easy difficulty.
Combat is extremely satisfying on harder difficulties when you pull off the complex combos.
Anyone who has the God of War 3 demo do this -
launch goons and yourself upto the air by HOLDING triangle...while in mid air press L1+Square , L1+ Circle and L1+Triangle one after the other.
UTTER AWESOMESUCE ! Do it with the cestus too.
God of war has kickass graphics, Great story, music and gameplay ---> Awesome
Btw, I didn't think that God of war 1 or 2 had excessive gore...but how exactly is gore a bad thing ? You guys aren't 10 yr old girls playing cheesy turn based rpgs only are you ? lol
