They haven't always been an evil, money-grabbing corporation, you know. That only started around three years ago.

The word evil and corporation don't blend very well. All corporations are going to try and sap as much as money as they can from their consumers, that's their goal. It's really the consumers' fault for being such zombies. If nobody buys their products, they're definitely going to think twice about their strategies.

Activision takes it to a new level. They avoid games that won't sell like the plague (Bobby Kotick probably killed someone after Prototype's sales came in), Kotick has openly said he wants to take all fun and originality out of game development, and turn all series into over-milked franchises with iterations every year which sell millions.

He is a monster. I hope Gabe Newell eats him.

Yeah, but why do people buy these games still? Any company that sees the weak points of consumers are going to exploit it to the max. You really can't blame anyone but the ignorant consumers.

 

Edit: Bear in mind I don't agree with what they're doing either, and I would love to see Kotick get dethroned, but at the same time, you gotta realize they're a business, and they'll do anything to earn money.
