Is there even a game that enables cross game invites on PS3?
You can send an invite using the XMB.
Hit the PS button, select a friend (or multiple ones from the message box) and send a message. You can also start a chat with multiple friends instead while games are running.
Try for example in the launch game Blast Factor and ask friends to play for example Warhawk.
