What's wrong with saying "No comment" or "it doesn't concern us?" Instead of going on some tangent that says a lot more about you than everyone else.

There's nothing wrong with that. I'm not saying what Gabe Newell said in the past was smart, but it's not like he stood on a pedestal at a press conference and belted these quotes out, which is the impression I've gotten from many people in this thread. I've seen the words "PR", "going out of their way", etc. used.

In fact, people are still holding Gabe Newell to comments he made years ago, when his interviews in the last few months have been very nice and apologetic towards PS3 owners. But we'll remember what interviews we choose to remember right? Whichever give us the best advantage to remain bitter and angry?

That's just it.  No one has to hold Valve to past comments at all, because they keep coming up with new excuses and insults.

Your statement makes no sense, in that regard.  People are upset with Valve's negative comments, and senseless excuses, because they could just be keeping their mouths shut about it, like every other X360 exclusive developer does.  Worse than that, this recent comment can actually be perceived to target the PSN community, rather than PSN or Sony itself.  The actual users/potential consumers?

I'm sure the Valve guy meant "PSN service", but... he didn't actually explain anything about that comment.  He just "blamed PSN" and didn't give a good reason.  Not very constructive criticism, I'd have to say.

He's just criticizing.  He's not trying to be helpful, not trying to get anyone to change anything to make potential consumers happy (i.e. PS3 owners who want Valve games), etc.  He's just bashing.

Hence, the complaints.

He/Valve deserves every bit of it, until they start treating their potential consumers and business partners with some respect.

I said Gabe Newell made such and such comments, and you used that to think I was refering to Valve. We're obviously not on the same page so let's just forget it.

On a sidenote, Chet didn't have to mean to say PSN service or PSN community, because it seems he didn't say either. What you read was the writer of that piece of news say PSN community and then directly quote Chet. Here's the excerpt you're talking about:

Left 4 Dead project lead Chet Faliszek has said the 360 community is "head and shoulders above the PS3", and that's why the multiplayer-focused Left 4 Dead series isn't on Sony's console.

Note that the only thing directly quoted from Chet is the line "head and shoulders above the PS3". Everything else is told through the interpretations of the writer. Now let's look further down when the writer directly quotes Chet, but gives his entire response:

Faliszek replied went on: "In hooking up with your friends and the community aspects, I think the Xbox 360 is head and shoulders above the PS3. The 360 and PC are on par, right?"

Notice, the part where it says the exact same thing as the beginning, "head and shoulders above the PS3" but now you see the entire passage? You can tell he actually said the community aspects and hooking up with your friends, and didn't say what the writer alluded to in the beginning, which was the community itself. This is sensationalistic journalism. I'm sorry you fell for it.
