Last year, many of us didn't expect this $300 price tag because we knew how much it would hurt their wallets. I imagine now that they won't be able to cut the price in a long time, and it'll still be $300 by next holiday, with sales starting to slow down.

Who knows, though. It all depends on how much money they're willing to burn in order to keep the hardware selling. I wouldn't really call that strategy "paying off," though.


As for the PS3 lasting longer than the Wii, I really don't see this happening. Are we assuming the Wii successor will be out before the PS3's? I can't foresee a point in time where the PS3 sales would end up selling consistently more than the Wii's. Why do people think the Wii lacks staying power? They didn't need to cut the price until it was 3 years old...
