It did occur to me that if by some chance, Nintendo decides to launch the wii hd at the end of 2010, (very doubtful) and Sony continues selling the PS3 well into the next generation, then hypothetically the PS3 could outsell the wii eventually.
I have no delusions of the selling power of either console, but I do believe that the PS3 (even though it is in third place currently) will have the longest staying power of the 3 current consoles because of the same reasons stated in the OP.
