Simply put, any company should be expected to do whatever it can to maximize profitablity. Hence overcharged hard drives and no PS2 BC on the new PS3s. You shouldnt expect a company to just give you anything. Even promotions are done in a fashion as to generate profit.
I agree that each new system by a company should be BC, but that doesn't mean that it actually SHOULD be; that's just our opinion.
