I do not think this is really about integrity. I think this is a side impact of the large corporation. They are a bit like Oil tankers and take a long time to stop and turn around.
I think Microsoft are a good example of the its not the fault but how you handle the fault that matters. In this regards they did a good job especially for a large company, it does help in Microsofts case that they still had founders within the business and I think that helps making some tough decisions especially when it no longer is all about money.
I also think Sony have a similar fault with its console. It is smaller in comparison but it is still a manufacture/design fault which they are choosing to handle differently. In some respects they cannot do a Microsoft without the problem being blow out of proportion. I also think Sony suffers far more from the Oil tanker syndrome and take much longer to stop. This is mostly down to is managment structure/thinking which if we are to believe Stringer is being addressed.
In all honesty Sony are as credible and care as much as the average large corporation. They also have an avid fanbase almost akin to apple with regards to its products. If we asked the older generation of PS3 owners what make the TV was I betcha most say Sony.
