I think Sony's first and second parties have done an excellent job with creating new IP's, and it's a major reason why I support them more than any other console right now. I'm getting tired of the refuse that Nintendo and Microsoft keep spewing out, but the PS3 has repeatedly exposed me to brand new games.

Without the PS3, gaming would feel empty to me (outside of all the cheap, "micro" games that get released, like World of Goo, Braid, etc).

I'll admit that it'd be nice to get a fourth Crash game by Naughty Dog, or another Jet Moto, but at some point in time I know I'd get bored with it.

Nintendo and Microsoft do their fair share of new IPs also. You do know that right?

Nintendo: Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Nintendogs, Brain Age, Professor Layton, Hotel Dusk, etc.

Microsoft: Gears of War, Infinite Undiscovery, Crackdown, Kameo, Viva Pinata, Mass Effect, Lost Odyssey, etc.

I've never seen you failed before, but damn dude...............

Gears is made by MS, Mass Effect? oh Jesus!

No, they published them. Regardless of their ownership over the IPs themselves, they still took the chance on them. That is the point of this topic, no? Taking a chance on new IPs? As a publisher you take the chance on the games you release. Sony doesn't create every new IP in house either. They happen to retain the majority of them based on deals they make with the developer, but I doubt they created the IPs prior to the creation of the games.

Fair enough though MS publishing these has more to do with having exclusivity then taking chances.
